Old and New Anime
My art is heavily influenced by the old-school anime style, but with a twist. I’ve always been drawn to the aesthetics of anime from the late 90s and early 2000s—the sharp yet expressive character designs, the detailed backgrounds, and the exaggerated emotional expressions that made these shows so memorable. Whether it’s the unmistakable look of Sailor Moon, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, or Cardcaptor Sakura, the feeling these series evoked has stayed with me and shaped my own artistic journey.
In my work, I try to capture that magic of yesteryear while infusing it with my personal style. I want my art to feel like a time capsule—a bridge between the beloved old-school anime that shaped us and the fresh, modern vibe of today. I love using bold, clean lines and dramatic shading to reflect that nostalgic, cinematic feel, while keeping the characters relatable and accessible to today’s audience.
But it's not just about revisiting the past. It’s about creating something timeless. The beauty of anime from the 90s and early 2000s was that it had such a strong identity—something that still resonates with fans today. By drawing inspiration from these eras, I’m hoping to spark those same feelings of excitement, wonder, and connection that the original shows gave me. It’s a celebration of how anime has evolved over time, and how its legacy lives on through the creativity of artists like myself.
There’s something special about reconnecting with these memories through art. Whether you’re someone who grew up watching those iconic series or someone discovering them for the first time, I hope my work brings that sense of nostalgia and joy back to the forefront.
